Jackets settle for 1-1 draw at Salem

Box Score BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Cedarville let a lead slip away late in regulation and eventually left Salem International with a 1-1 tie in double overtime in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

The NCAA Division II contest was actually played at Bridgeport City Park. The Yellow Jackets broke a scoreless deadlock early in the second half when Daniel Rigby headed in his own rebound in the 49th minute.

It stayed that way until the 81st when the Tigers scored on just their second shot on goal. Neither side made much noise in the OT's.

"I thought we did what we needed to do in order to win," Interim Head Coach Brett Faro explained. "We made a few defensive errors at important times that gave them an opportunity to capitalize.

"We have to go back to basics and continue working on our ability to be consistent for 90 minutes. We must continue to get better defensively and get back to shutting teams down the way we are capable of."

Shots were in favor of Cedarville 17-8 overall and 8-2 on goal. A total of 35 fouls were whistled in the match. Salem was shown five yellow cards and one red.

The Yellow Jackets, 9-2-3 overall and 4-1-1 G-MAC, travel to Oakland City (Ind.) for a non-conference match on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
