Gilmour strikes twice; Dewhurst sets record

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Connor Gilmour scored twice 50 seconds apart and Ethan Dewhurst established a new single-season school record for shutouts as Cedarville blanked Trevecca Nazarene, 2-0, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference clash.

Gilmour broke the scoreless battle in the 61st minute. Ethan Shula placed a shot off the post and the red shirt freshman ran onto the ball for the decisive tally.

However, Gilmour netted his best of the two less than a minute later. He dribbled into the penalty area, faked the keeper to the ground, and then eluded the last defender for his 11th goal of the season.

Dewhurst was called upon to make three saves for his ninth shutout of the campaign and 16th of his career. He surpassed the single-season mark of eight previously held by Matt Reid (2001) and Luke Marietta (2005).

The Yellow Jackets improved to 11-2-3 overall and 5-1-1 G-MAC to remain in second place in the league. Trevecca Nazarene is 8-7-1 and 5-3.

CU outshot the visitors 24-8 overall and 8-3 on goal. The hosts also had double the corner kicks, 8-4.

Kentucky Wesleyan visits for the regular season home finale on Saturday with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
