Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Connor Gilmour resumed his scoring spree with three more goals to lead Cedarville to a 4-1 result over Shippensburg in the annual Homecoming match.
It was the Yellow Jackets' first home contest in nearly a month after surviving a 4-1-1 road swing.
Gilmour headed in
Jared Newman's corner kick in the 3rd minute for the early lead. Ten minutes later, the two teams had to wait out a half-hour lightning delay.
It remained 1-0 through the intermission before CU struck quickly again in period two. Gilmour played
Todd McKinley's corner in mid-air and one-timed it into the back of the net in the 49th minute.
Christian Alexander made it 3-0 in the 80th with his fourth goal of the year. He dribbled the ball down the left side to the top of the box and drilled a laser inside the far post.
The visiting Red Raiders became the first road team to score at CU by depositing a penalty kick in the 83rd. Gilmour answered with a PK in the 86th.
Cedarville, 7-1-2, again had the advantage in shots overall, 15-4; shots on goal, 7-2; and corners, 7-4.
Ethan Dewhurst made one save.
Gilmour, who now leads the team with eight goals scored, netted seven in a span of 48 hours. He tallied four in CU's 8-0 win at Ohio Valley.
The Yellow Jackets begin another three match week with a non-conference tilt on Tuesday at Saint Joseph's (Ind.). Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. EST.
