Lady Jackets win the battle at AB

Box Score PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Cedarville maintained sole possession of first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference by grinding out a five-set victory at Alderson Broaddus.

The Lady Jackets pulled it out by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 23-25, 15-13.

"It was a very hard fought win in a difficult environment," explained Head Coach Doug Walters. "We were able to capitalize on their mistakes down the stretch while improving on our transition game. Abby (Shelton) played an outstanding match throughout and executed very well."

Shelton pounded 17 kills to lead the attack and Hannah Wagner buried 10. Amanda Bell tallied seven kills along with a team-high 13 digs.

Maddie Anderson handed out 20 assists and served up two aces. That ran her career total to 217 service aces in less than three full season to surpass Sarah Zeltman (216; 2004-07) for #1 on CU's all-time list.

Kristin Cardwell chipped in 14 assists and three aces. Angela Becker produced a team-high four aces.

CU, 16-13 overall and 9-1 G-MAC, plays its final road match of the season on Saturday at Davis & Elkins at 1:00 p.m.

The host Battlers fall to 14-13 and 7-3 G-MAC.
