Cedarville holds off TNU on Senior Night

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets honored graduating seniors Kelsey Christiansen and Stephanie Rogers and then proceeded to battle four sets with Trevecca Nazarene for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory in the Callan Athletic Center.

Cedarville defeated the Trojans 25-16, 26-28, 26-24, 25-22 to up its record to 20-13 overall and 12-1 G-MAC.

The Jackets host Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the regular season finale. The winner gets the #1 seed and hosts the G-MAC Tournament starting Thursday.

"I was pretty pleased with tonight's performance," said Head Coach Doug Walters. "Trevecca played a very strong match against us and we were able to make the adjustments to stay ahead in the end."

Amanda Bell pounded 16 kills and came up with 10 digs to lead the way. Abby Shelton buried 12 kills while Hannah Wagner totaled 13 kills with three blocks. Tori Thompson chipped in nine kills and four blocks.

The two seniors made key contributions as well. Rogers had 10 kills and a team-leading six blocks with Christiansen adding nine kills and three rejections.

"Our block did a great job of holding position and channeling the ball to our passers," Walters added. "Amanda Bell also played one of the best matches of her career tonight on the front line.  She did get a double-double in kills and digs which is great. It was good preparation for a big match tomorrow!"

The assist totals had Maddie Anderson with 33 and Kristin Cardwell with 23. Angela Becker paced the back row with 18 digs.
