Box Score PHILIPPI, W.Va. -
Christian Alexander netted the only goal and Cedarville's defense returned to form in a 1-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory at Alderson Broaddus.
Connor Scott's cross from the right corner to the six-yard line was poked in by Alexander in the 11th minute. It was his fifth goal of the season and Scott's team-high fifth assist for the Yellow Jackets, 8-3-2 overall and 4-0-1 G-MAC.
"It was a tough battle," remarked Head Coach
Brett Faro. "AB is a much improved team that plays deep and works extremely hard.
"We knew we were going to have to scrap and battle to get a result and that's what we did today. Scoring early always makes life a little bit easier and I thought we were a bit unfortunate not to get another one in the second half."
After coughing up a rare five goals in its last outing, the defense buckled down for its eighth shutout of the year and the fourth in the last five games. Starting keeper
Paulo Pinto made two saves in the first half while
Ethan Dewhurst didn't need to make any over the final 45 minutes.
Neither side mustered a lot of shots. CU had the advantage overall, 10-5, as well as on goal, 5-2. Alderson Broaddus falls to 4-8-1 and 2-4 G-MAC.
The Yellow Jackets return to West Virginia on Saturday to play at NSCAA Division II #3 Charleston at 4:00 p.m.
