Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Ethan Shula's first goal of the season was all the Yellow Jackets needed as they closed out the regular season with a 1-0 non-conference win at Ohio Dominican.
Shula took a pass near the six-yard box from
Chris Anderson in the 41st minute and tucked it in. The CU defense took it from there with goalkeepers
Ethan Dewhurst and
Paulo Pinto combining for the shutout.
Head Coach
Brett Faro's squad enters the post-season with a 12-4-2 record. He admitted the victory provides a springboard to what lies ahead in the G-MAC Tournament.
"It was a battle tonight and a tale of two halves. We were very sharp in the first half and had to weather a bit of a storm from ODU in the second half.
"They are a good team and turf is a tough surface to play on at times. We battled hard and I think showed good toughness throughout the game. We continue to improve collectively and are very happy to be heading into playoffs on a good note."
Shots were at premium for both sides. The Jackets had the advantage overall (8-5) and on goal (5-1). The visitors also had a 7-1 margin in corner kicks.
Cedarville is off until Nov. 6 and 8 when it will host the G-MAC semifinals and final. The Jackets will face either Kentucky Wesleyan or Alderson Broaddus in their opener.
