Jackets gear up for G-MAC battle

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Defending champion and top seed Cedarville is set to host Alderson Broaddus in Thursday's first G-MAC semifinal with kickoff at 5:00 p.m.

That contest will be followed by Davis & Elkins and Salem International at 7:30. The winners meet in Saturday's championship at noon.

All three games will have a live video stream along with live stats on Stretch Internet.

The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season 12-4-2 overall and 7-0-1 G-MAC. They blanked all three of the other semifinalists during the regular season which included a 1-0 win at Alderson Broaddus on Oct. 15.

Quotable from Head Coach Brett Faro:

Playing Alderson Broaddus a second time this season ...
"I think AB is a good team that has proven all year that they are a tough match for anyone and are capable of winning games. We had to work hard for 90 minutes to get a result at their place and I expect the same on Thursday if we want to get a good result. They are organized, they work hard, and have good players all over the field that will make it hard for us. We will need to be sharp and execute well on both sides of the ball."

What will it take to repeat as G-MAC Champions ...
"I think generally speaking we will need to have a good effort from the whole group this weekend if we want to repeat. Winning the conference twice in a row is no easy task and I think as a whole the conference is much tougher this year which makes that task even bigger.

"I think our ability to defend well will be huge. We've been a good team defensively all year and it's going to take two very good defensive efforts this week to give ourselves a chance. We've talked as a group about taking each day at a time and controlling what we can control. At this point what we can control is our game with AB and doing our best to earn a few more days together as a team. I think we are peaking at the right time and we are excited to get after it."

Numbers Game:
  • Cedarville is 3-0 all-time vs. Alderson Broaddus having outscored the Battlers, 6-1.
