Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Christian Alexander's goal and a sticky Yellow Jacket defense gave CU a 1-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference win against visiting Kentucky Wesleyan.
Shots on goal were at a premium for both sides with only seven combined for the match. Alexander chased down a through ball from
Zachary Harris in the 64th minute and tucked a 15-yarder just inside the far post.
Head Coach
Brett Faro was pleased with his team improving to 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 G-MAC.
"It was a good result for us tonight. We were a bit banged up and had some heavy legs from Thursday's game. We knew were going to have to grind it out and our guys showed a lot of resiliency.
"I thought our back line was especially tough. Kentucky Wesleyan has some very good players up front and Joe (Davison) and Jarrett (Kersten) played exceptionally well. It's certainly good for us to learn how to battle in tough circumstances like that and hopefully will help us in the long run."
Cedarville had the advantage in overall shots (14-5) and corners (9-0). Goalkeepers
Paulo Pinto and
Ethan Dewhurst combined for the shutout.
The Yellow Jackets host Gannon on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
