Christian Alexander and
Connor Scott found the net as Cedarville wrapped up a four-match homestand with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Gannon.
It was the fourth shutout in seven matches this fall for the Yellow Jackets, 4-1-2.
Paulo Pinto made one save in the first half and
Ethan Dewhurst stopped two more shots in the second period.
"It was a good win tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brett Faro. "I didn't think it was our sharpest game of the year. but it was an important win.
"We did well to create quality attacks and our defense played well again to get another shutout. We got away from our standard a bit in the second half, but showed good resolve to create opportunities and get a good result against a good team."
Alexander got all CU would need in the 14th minute. He took a pass in the box from
Paul Messerly, spun on the Knights' defense, and slipped a low shot inside the far post. It was the second straight game-winner for Alexander.
It stayed 1-0 until the 81st minute.
Connor Gilmour's pass was headed off the crossbar by
Ethan Lee which in turn was headed in by Scott.
Cedarville outshot the visitors 17-11 overall and 7-3 on goal. The home side also had the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1, with all of them taken in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets head to Erie, Pa. on Saturday to face NSCAA Division II #13 Mercyhurst with kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
