Faubion steps up again to lead #CUJackets

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - J.C. Faubion scored all 22 of his points in the second half to spark the Yellow Jackets to a 77-73 non-conference result over visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Cedarville won its fourth straight, all at home, to improve to 4-5.

The Cougars rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit for their only lead of the second half at 54-52 with 10:04 left. That's when Faubion took over.

After Colton Linkous hit a three to give the Jackets the lead for good, the junior guard scored the team's next eight points.

Faubion's triple at the 2:15 mark made it 70-63. He converted 5-of-6 free throws in the final 28 seconds to seal the outcome.

Faubion finished 11-for-12 at the line to go along with eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Patrick Bain tallied 18 points and six rebounds. Linkous had nine points, all outside the arc, and Justice Montgomery handed out four assists.

Quotable: Head Coach Pat Estepp

"I'm really proud of our guys! That was a hard fought game against an old rival. That brought back some great memories of some special CU-MVNU games in the past. We knew this would be a challenge.

"We finished the first half really well and Patrick (Bain) had a really good half. We hurt them off the dribble, but they were hurting us in transition. They made some adjustments defensively and we got a little tight and stagnant on offense. But, J.C. (Faubion) stepped up again and the guys settled down and made some big plays to take the lead back.

"J.C. and Colton (Linkous) had two big threes and we defended much better when we made the run to take the lead back. That was big for us to keep our poise after we had lost the lead.

"We are making strides and learning how to win games. This was a very good stretch for us. Hopefully, this gives us some confidence going into a tough week coming up."
