Cedarville grabs second straight victory

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Kwenton Scott produced a career-high 19 points off the bench to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 77-65 win against Miami Middletown at the Callan Athletic Center.

Cedarville, 2-5, picked up its second straight victory with the non-conference result.

The Jackets needed just 15 seconds to take the lead for good while building a 41-31 margin by halftime. Scott tallied 14 of his points in the opening 20 minutes.

An eight-point spurt early in the second half opened up the bulge to 52-35. The difference was as much as 18 before the Thunderhawks, 4-7, got as close as 70-61 with 3:04 left.

Scott finished with a game-high three three-point baskets. He was 6-for-7 at the line and grabbed six rebounds.

Patrick Bain totaled 14 points. Easton Bazzoli, J.C. Faubion, and Robert Okoro chipped in eight points apiece.

Quotable: Head Coach Pat Estepp

"It was good for our young guys to get another win. Give Frank's (Back) team credit - they didn't quit.

"We got off to a good start which was better than Tuesday. But we allowed them to hang around too close with turnovers, direct drives, and offensive rebounds.

"Then, the second half we pushed the lead out and then imploded for about 10 straight possessions. Some of that is youth not understanding how to put a team away.

"It was good to get Kwenton (Scott) hitting some shots again and I thought Roshane O'Brian was a little more assertive in the second half.

"We have to take better care of the ball - 21 turnovers is unacceptable. We will watch video and keep getting better. We have a very young team and we are still really early in the season."
