@CedarvilleMBB drops G-MAC opener

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Trevecca reversed a 10-point deficit in the second half to post an 81-69 win at the Callan Athletic Center to begin the G-MAC schedule.

The Yellow Jackets, 5-8, were in good shape with a 47-37 advantage at the 15:45 mark. It was still 49-40 on Robert Okoro's second straight layup with 14:59 remaining.

Then, the offense took a break as CU went more than seven minutes without a field goal.

TNU, 5-9, exploded on a 24-5 run for a 64-54 edge with 5:55 to play. After falling into a 10-point hole, the Trojans outscored the hosts 44-22 the rest of the way.

J.C. Faubion registered 23 points and nine rebounds for Cedarville. He converted 9-of-10 free throws.

Easton Bazzoli had 12 points and five assists. Okoro added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Quotable: Head Coach Pat Estepp

"Give credit to Trevecca. We had no answer for (Byron) Sanford tonight and then they hit some really big threes when we took the lead.

"We have been defending pretty well, but that was not the case tonight. We did not contain the dribble and then we were late on closeouts to shooters because of helping on direct drives.

"But, probably the biggest struggle was on offense. We settled for too many jumpers when they were making their run to get back into the game.

"We have to get some things figured out on offense. We have to have some key guys step up and start producing consistently on the offensive end and we have to start getting some scoring off the bench.

"Trevecca is a good team with one of the best players in our league, but I would be wrong if I didn't tell you our guys and our staff were pretty frustrated by our second half performance."
