Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Bellarmine netted the decisive goal early in the second overtime to defeat Cedarville, 2-1, in a non-conference men's soccer season opener for both schools.
The Knights got the game winner in the 102nd minute on what was the only shot credited to either side in extra time.
Bellarmine scored late in the first half to take a 1-0 advantage. The header off a corner kick came in the 42nd minute.
Levi Haight leveled the match in the 68th on a 15-yarder with
Nick Marculo assisting.
Graham Sachtleben came up with five saves in goal.
Stinger Notes:
- The start of the game was delayed one hour by lightning.
- Haight's goal was the second of his career. His first beat Mercyhurst, 4-3, in overtime last year.
- It's the second straight year that CU's first game went to overtime.
- Bellarmine defeated the Jackets for the first time in three tries.
- The Knights had the shot advantage 11-8 overall and 7-1 on goal.
