CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville opens its 56th season of men's soccer by hosting Bellarmine in a non-conference encounter on Thursday.
Start time is slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT with
Stretch Internet providing the live coverage.
This will be the third time in the last four years the two schools have opened the season against one another, but it's the first meeting in Cedarville.
Bellarmine was a 2-1 winner in double overtime on its turf last year. The Yellow Jackets won the other two confrontations - 3-0 at Indianapolis in the 2015 opener and 3-2 (2ot) at Davis & Elkins in the second game of 2016.
Head Coach
Brett Faro is back for his sixth year. He pushed the Jackets through an injury-plagued season last fall finishing 9-9-1 overall and 7-6-1 G-MAC.
The team's top five scorers return led by senior midfielder
Derek Braak, who netted 11 goals and one assist despite missing five games with injury. It was good enough to be named to the NCCAA All-America Third Team.
Braak was named to the All-Ohio Division II Team along with returning junior defender
Zac Muir.
Cedarville has 18 games on the schedule including nine at home. Defending G-MAC champion and preseason No. 7 ranked Ohio Valley is the Homecoming opponent on Oct. 6.
