FINDLAY, Ohio - Quincy never trailed in the third overtime and held on to beat Cedarville, 112-104, in a marathon to open the season in the G-MAC/GLVC Crossover at the University of Findlay.
The outcome overshadowed a pair of buzzer beaters the Yellow Jackets hit to keep the contest going.
Jacob Drees' three-pointer at the regulation horn tied the game, 71-71.
Isaiah Speelman's basket with one second remaining in the first OT knotted the score, 85-85.
In the second OT, Cedarville never trailed. Quincy finally tied the game again, 95-95, on a three-point play with 25 seconds remaining before Speelman's short jumper at the buzzer rimmed out.
Quinton Green racked up a career-high 30 points for the Jackets while
Conner TenHove totaled 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Demond Parker finished with 15 points and Drees produced 12 points off the bench.
Stinger Notes:
- TenHove was 8-for-8 at the free throw line and the team was 30-for-34.
- It's the second year in a row Quincy knocked off the Jackets in the season opener.
- Cedarville built four-point leads in both the first and second overtimes.
- The Hawks have won all four meetings between the two schools.
- Truman State surprised NABC Division II No. 17 Findlay, 67-59, in the nightcap.
