Another rally, another epic OT win for Jackets

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Quinton Green matched his career high with 30 points and Cedarville came back from 20 points down to shock Lynn in overtime, 87-84.

The Yellow Jackets enter the break 7-5 following their third straight overtime victory in which they erased a double digit deficit.

Green scored eight of his points in the extra session including four free throws in the last 19 seconds to seal the outcome.

The first half was a disaster for CU after scoring the first basket. The Fighting Knights responded with 19 unanswered points and sprinted to leads of 20 points on four occasions.

Trailing 53-34 early in the second half, the Yellow Jackets scored 13 points in a row to get back in it and finally took a brief two-point lead with 1:45 remaining.

Branden Maughmer, who tallied 23 points, made a layup with 15 seconds to go to force OT. Demond Parker and Isaiah Speelman added 11 points each.

Stinger Notes:
  • Green also scored 30 points in the season opener vs. Quincy.
  • Since going scoreless at Trevecca, Maughmer has averaged 20.3 ppg in the three games since.
  • Speelman hit for double figures in his fourth straight game (12.5 ppg).
  • In the second half, the Jackets shot 60 percent from the field and made 7-of-11 from deep.
  • Cedarville converted at least ten triples for the fifth consecutive time (10-for-24).
  • The OT wins erasing twin figure deficits include at Central State (20), vs. Lake Erie (12), and at Lynn (20).
  • It was the first meeting between the two schools.
