ATLANTA, Ga. - Cedarville jumped on Clark Atlanta early and got an impressive showing from starting pitcher
Gage Voorhees which resulted in a dominating 18-8 victory.
Voorhees, 2-0, enjoyed an eight-run lead before he even threw a pitch. He responded with five scoreless innings in which he allowed just two hits, struck out eight, and did not walk a batter.
The Yellow Jackets put an eight-spot on the board with their first at bat. The first five batters walked, they received seven free passes total in the frame, and had a couple of RBI singles.
Freshman
Austin Brown went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base.
Alan Perry added three hits including a double and two runs scored for Cedarville, 2-2.
Elijah Sanchez homered for the second straight day as part of his two-hit afternoon with two RBI and two runs scored.
Turner White chipped in two hits.
Stinger Notes:
- CU scored runs in all but two innings and rapped out 14 hits total.
- Emille Terre made his collegiate debut with an RBI double.
- Brown, Connor Culhane, and Ross Melchior all had sacrifice flies.
- The Jackets drew a total of 15 walks and CU pitchers fanned 14 batters.
- Twelve different Cedarville players scored runs.
- Brown, Culhane, Melchior, Terre, and Sanchez all produced two RBI apiece.
