MASON, Ohio - Cedarville and Ohio Valley each took a victory at Prasco Park's Legacy Field to begin Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Yellow Jackets won the opener, 4-2, with OVU cruising in the nightcap, 12-5.
In the first game,
Elijah Sanchez had three hits to lead the offense. He stole a base, scored a run, and drove in another.
Brendan Toungate doubled in two runs while
Connor Culhane doubled and scored.
Starting pitcher
Drew Minnich, 1-0, tossed the first six innings with six strikeouts.
Gage Voorhees wrapped it up for the save fanning four more.
The Fighting Scots bolted to a 10-0 lead in the third inning of game two.
Bryce Hughes doubled, tripled, scored a run, and had two RBI.
Payton Eeles contributed a double and a stolen base with another double coming off the bat of
Matthew Biermann.
Stinger Notes:
- Eeles is batting .476 (10-for-21) with seven steals in the last six outings.
- Logan Eby has hit safely in five straight games and seven of the last eight.
- Voorhees is 3-0 with a save and a 1.08 ERA in four appearances on the mound.
