CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets and G-MAC foe Ohio Valley combined to score 52 runs in trading conference victories during Cedarville's home opener.
In the seven-inning first game, Cedarville plated ten runs in its first at bat and led 13-0 after two innings before holding on for a 15-12 result.
Ross Melchior went 4-for-4 with a double, six RBI, and two runs scored to spark the offense.
Logan Eby had a two-run double while
Bryce Hughes added two hits, three runs, and a stolen base.
Starting pitcher
Logan Wynalda, 2-1, struck out four and was credited with the victory.
Elliott Gilmore tossed two innings and
Riley Landrum got the final three outs for his first save.
The Fighting Scots scored four times in the ninth inning to pull out the nightcap, 14-11.
Matthew Biermann stroked a pair of doubles with two RBI for the Yellow Jackets, 6-9 overall and 2-2 G-MAC. Melchior singled, tripled, and drove in four more runs.
Payton Eeles produced two hits including a double, two RBI, and three runs scored.
Austin Brown added two hits with a double, a stolen base, and three runs.
Stinger Notes:
- Melchior was six-for-nine with a double, triple, and ten RBI in the doubleheader.
- Cedarville racked up 22 total hits including eight for extra bases.
- Brown, Eeles, and Brendan Toungate scored two runs each in the opener.
- The two teams' pitching staffs combined to hit ten batters in the twinbill.
- The Jackets head to Urbana for a non-league contest on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
