BECKLEY, W.Va. - Alderson Broaddus took advantage of limited scoring opportunities to sweep a G-MAC doubleheader from the Yellow Jackets at Epling Stadium.
The Battlers managed just five hits in each game, but won by scores of 4-2 and 5-3.
Six different players had hits for Cedarville in the opener.
Ross Melchior clubbed a solo home run and
Brendan Toungate tripled.
Noah Cline, 0-2, struck out three in a complete-game effort.
AB broke a 3-3 tie in the second game with two runs in the seventh inning. All three Yellow Jacket runs came in the first inning capped off by
Markus Neff's two-run homer.
Matthew Biermann doubled twice and
Payton Eeles added two hits for CU, 9-17 overall and 5-9 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- Each team left three runners on base in the first game and eight each in the second contest.
- Melchior has a team-leading five home runs and 40 RBI.
- Cedarville has played nine games decided by two runs or less.
- Eeles extended his hitting streak to ten straight with a .500 batting average during that time span.
- Austin Brown and Logan Eby had a hit in each game.
- Biermann leads the club with ten doubles and 13 extra base hits.
