KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Minnesota Crookston plated the game winner in the bottom of the tenth inning to edge the Yellow Jackets, 5-4, in the RussMatt Invitational at Heritage Park.
A leadoff double followed by a one-out single won it for the Golden Eagles, 5-5.
Cedarville, 2-5, needed a comeback of its own in the ninth to tie it.
Ross Melchior's RBI groundout with the bases loaded brought
Alan Perry across to knot the score at 4-4.
The Jackets enjoyed a 3-0 lead before Minnesota Crookston put four on the board in the eighth on three walks and two hits.
Starting pitcher
Noah Cline was outstanding. The freshman righthander tossed six scoreless innings allowing just three hits with four strikeouts.
Elijah Sanchez tallied two hits with an RBI and a run scored.
Connor Culhane doubled and
Bryce Hughes added a hit with a stolen base.
Stinger Notes:
- CU pitchers limited the Golden Eagles to seven hits.
- The defense committed one error and has only three miscues in the last four outings.
- Seven different Yellow Jackets registered base hits.
- Cedarville has an off day before resuming Thursday against Northern State at 5:30 p.m.
