CEDARVILLE, Ohio - No. 3 seed Cedarville spotted No. 6 Malone a big first quarter lead before turning things around for a 75-55 G-MAC Quarterfinal victory at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Lady Jackets, 23-6, move on to face No. 2 Kentucky Wesleyan in Friday's second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. EST at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.
Ashlyn Huffman was a perfect 4-for-4 outside the arc and pumped in a career-high 25 points.
Abby Wolford added 22 points in 22 minutes while
Regina Hochstetler chipped in 11 points.
Malone made nine of its first eleven shots in bolting to a 22-7 lead in the game's first eight minutes.
Cedarville cut the difference to ten at the buzzer and proceeded to overwhelm the Pioneers 61-31 the rest of the way.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville ended the season 14-0 at the Callan Athletic Center.
- Wolford's three-ball with 35 seconds left in the first half gave CU the lead for good.
- The Jackets controlled the boards, 37-24, with Huffman and Alli Roh grabbing seven each.
- The home team was 16-for-18 at the free throw line as Wolford was perfect in seven attempts.
- CU was 11-for-22 from three-point land - the eighth time this year at .500 or better.
- The defense held Malone to 11-for-41 (.268) shooting in the final three quarters.
- The Lady Jackets lead the all-time season series, 36-13.
- Kentucky Wesleyan buried Ohio Dominican, 89-49, in its quarterfinal.
