Ross Melchior and
Markus Neff concluded their careers with big games and freshman
Payton Eeles stayed hot at the plate as Cedarville ended the season with a 13-4 victory at Findlay.
The Oilers took the first game of the doubleheader, 5-1.
Melchior had three hits including a triple, two RBI, and a run scored. Neff added two hits featuring a solo home run, two runs, and a pair of RBI.
Eeles finished the season with an impressive 30-game hitting streak by going 4-for-6 with a stolen base and two runs scored.
Matthew Biermann chipped in three hits with a double, two runs, and an RBI.
Turner White was good for three hits including a double, three runs, and two RBI.
Matt Yates, 3-2, went the distance on the mound. He allowed two earned runs with four strikeouts and no walks.
Elijah Sanchez had two of the team's six hits in the seven-inning opener. Eeles kept his hitting streak alive with a bunt single in the fifth. Neff had an RBI double and Melchior added a double.
Stinger Notes:
- All nine players in the batting order had base hits in the nightcap, eight scored runs, and seven had at least one RBI.
- Gage Voorhees pitched a complete game in the opener with four strikeouts.
- Eeles' 30-game hitting streak featured a .479 batting average (56-for-117) with nine doubles, two triples, 28 runs, and 19 stolen bases.
- Melchior's 48 RBI are the sixth most in a season in school history.
- The 73 hits by Eeles rank fifth in a season at CU and his 27 steals tied for fourth.
- Melchior ends his career with a .265 batting average in 155 games played with 19 doubles, six triples, nine homers, and 89 RBI.
- Neff's two-plus year Yellow Jacket career featured ten home runs and 59 RBI in 81 games played.
