NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Defending G-MAC champion Walsh had its way with Cedarville in cruising to an 86-56 G-MAC win at Alumni Arena.
The game was part of the NCAA Division II Showcase which was video streamed on ESPN3.
The host Cavaliers, 14-2 overall and 5-1 G-MAC, surrendered the first basket to the Yellow Jackets and that was it.
Walsh scored the last ten points of the first half for a 48-32 margin and the visitors never threatened in the second half.
Kollin Van Horn finished with 20 points for Cedarville, 8-8 and 4-3 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- The Jackets made 12-of-14 free throws and continue to lead the G-MAC at the stripe (.819).
- Cedarville entered the game averaging 82.3 points with a season-low of 71 (Northwood, Ohio Dominican).
- Walsh shot 52.5 percent from the field and committed only four turnovers.
- Branden Maughmer had a string of 21 straight free throws snapped dating back to Nov. 14.
- It was the 90th meeting between the two schools with the Cavaliers leading the series, 49-41.
- The rematch is Feb. 22 at the Callan Athletic Center.
