FINDLAY, Ohio - Two-time defending G-MAC regular season champion Findlay gained control in the second half and trimmed the Yellow Jackets, 83-74, at Niekamp Arena.
The Oilers never trailed on its home court, but struggled to put away Cedarville, who fell into a nine-point hole in the game's opening minutes.
UF broke a 49-49 deadlock early in the second period with a 13-2 rally.
The Jackets got as close as 72-67 with three minutes left before the home team clinched the outcome with an 8-2 spurt.
Branden Maughmer piled up 22 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks for Cedarville, 8-7 overall and 4-2 G-MAC.
Quinton Green netted 15 points.
Isaiah Speelman scored 12 points and
Jacob Drees added 10.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville had the rebounding edge, 42-33, with Green and Conner TenHove hauling in eight boards each.
- Findlay outscored the visitors 16-5 at the charity stripe.
- Maughmer has made 21 consecutive free throws.
- Green is averaging 20 points and seven rebounds in his last three games.
- It was the Jackets' third game at UF after opening the season there in the G-MAC/GLVC Crossover.
- The Oilers hold a 76-23 lead in the all-time series dating back to the 1910 campaign.
- The two teams play again at the Callan Athletic Center on Feb. 26 in the regular season home finale.
