COLUMBUS, Ohio - Cedarville suffered through one of its worst shooting nights in years and dropped a 62-57 G-MAC decision in overtime at Ohio Dominican.
The Panthers never trailed in the extra session and took the lead for good on a three-pointer at the 2:35 mark.
The Yellow Jackets tied the game in regulation, 52-52, on
Branden Maughmer's tipin with 19 seconds left. ODU misfired on a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Kollin Van Horn finished with 21 points and seven rebounds for Cedarville, 1-2 overall and 1-2 G-MAC. Maughmer and
Quinton Green chipped in ten points each.
Conner TenHove pulled down 13 rebounds while
Jacob Drees matched his career-high of eight assists.
In the most notable shooting statistic ... the Yellow Jackets entered the game leading the conference in three-point shooting, but they went 0-for-15 from deep.
The performance ended a streak of 802 consecutive games making at least one triple.
Stinger Notes:
- The Jackets last failed to make a three-pointer on Jan. 24, 1995 when they went 0-for-5 in a home loss to Walsh.
- Cedarville outrebounded ODU (46-37) and committed fewer turnovers (12-14).
- After shooting .806 at the free throw line in the first two games, the Jackets made 9-of-17.
- The visitors held the lead for only eight minutes and its largest spread was 48-44 with 4:38 remaining.
- The game was initially to be the season opener for both teams on Dec. 3 but was postponed by COVID.
- Cedarville holds a 64-25 lead in the all-time series.
- The Panthers visit the Callan Athletic Center on January 21.
