XENIA, Ohio -
Austin Brown and
Brendan Toungate both homered as Cedarville began the 2021 baseball season with a 13-3 romp over Ohio Christian at the Athletes in Action Complex.
The Yellow Jackets piled up 17 hits in all featuring three apiece by Brown and
Payton Eeles.
Toungate supplied CU with its first runs of the season with a two-run blast in the first inning to knot the score, 2-2.
Brown hit a solo home run to ignite a four-run fourth which ultimately gave the home team the lead for good. He finished 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Eeles went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and three runs scored.
Alan Perry doubled twice and scored two runs.
Jacob Clements,
Blais Hale, and
Lucas Rotello added two hits each.
Drew Minnich,
Noah Schleinitz, and
Kevin Zhang worked three innings apiece on the mound. Schleinitz fanned three batters during three scoreless frames and was credited with the win.
Stinger Notes:
- The Jackets scored in four of the first five innings in jumping to an 11-3 lead.
- Clements and Daniel Sewak tallied doubles.
- Brown added a stolen base and sacrifice fly to his day.
- Nine different players registered base hits.
