CANTON, Ohio - Malone dropped in a season-high 15 three-point baskets and rode the wave to a 99-87 G-MAC win over the Yellow Jackets at Osborne Hall.
The Pioneers, who entered the game averaging 7.8 triples per game, went 10-for-20 in the first half alone.
The hosts broke a 9-9 deadlock with 17 unanswered points covering four-plus minutes to take command.
Cedarville clawed back to within eight points twice in the second half - the last of which was 63-55 with 13 minutes to go.
Nine straight points by Malone put the contest out of reach.
Kollin Van Horn netted a team-high 26 points for the Yellow Jackets, 6-4 overall and 6-4 G-MAC.
Quinton Green (14),
Isaiah Speelman (11),
Conner TenHove (10), and
Grant Whisman (10) also scored in double figures.
Stinger Notes:
- Branden Maughmer, Jayvon Maughmer, and Green dished out four assists apiece.
- Van Horn made 12-of-15 shots from the field.
- TenHove hauled in a team-high nine rebounds.
- Malone committed a season-low five turnovers and made a season-high 22 free throws.
- The Pioneers lead the all-time series, 57-46, which began in the 1958-59 season.
- The rematch at the Callan Athletic Center is set for February 20.
