Upset alert! Jackets stun No. 6 Findlay in OT

FINDLAY, Ohio - Cedarville withstood a spirited comeback by NABC Division II No. 6 Findlay and eventually knocked off the host Oilers in overtime, 90-84.

Branden Maughmer poured in a season-high 27 points including back-to-back baskets to put the visitors up for good late in the extra session.

The Yellow Jackets surprised Findlay with the game's first eight points and blew out to a quartet of 22-point leads in the first half.

The hosts trimmed the difference to 14 at the break, still trailed by 15 with 7:30 remaining in the game, but finally drew even with 22 seconds left.

UF took it's only lead on a layup with 1:55 to go in overtime before Maughmer stepped up. He added nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a blocked shot to his performance.

Quinton Green buried four three-pointers and totaled 17 points for Cedarville which ended a three-game slide to improve to 7-5 overall and 7-5 G-MAC.

Kollin Van Horn had 16 points while Jayvon Maughmer came off the bench with 11.

  • The Yellow Jackets made 34-of-56 field goals for a season-best .607 accuracy.
  • The visitors held a 37-34 edge on the boards.
  • Cedarville was credited with a season-high ten blocked shots.
  • The ten triples was the most made by the team since hitting 18 vs. Ohio Dominican seven games ago.
  • It was the fourth game for CU in the past seven days - two against nationally-ranked opponents.
  • The Jackets have played four overtime games this season and nine in the last two years.
  • It was the second straight setback for the Oilers, 12-3 overall and 11-3 G-MAC, who lost Saturday at No. 12 Hillsdale.
  • Findlay leads the all-time series, 77-24, which began in 1910.
  • The rematch in the Callan Athletic Center is set for February 24.
