Yellow Jackets pull out victory over Walsh

WATCH WINNING RUN

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Payton Eeles dashed home off of a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth inning to give Cedarville a 5-4 walkoff win against Walsh in the final game of their G-MAC series.

The Cavaliers won the first game, 7-3, in what was the on campus home opener.

Chase Springmeyer led off the ninth with a single and Eeles followed with a bunt single.

Following a fielders choice bunt, and a ground out, Eeles rushed home when a pitch in the dirt deflected about 20 feet away from the Cavaliers' catcher.

Springmeyer had two hits including a triple while Jacob Clements and Daniel Sewak added doubles.

Reid Hale was the last of four CU pitchers and was credited with the win.

In the seven-inning first game, Walsh broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the fifth.

Lucas Rotello went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and Eeles added three hits.

Stinger Notes:
  • The first two games of the series were played at Athletes in Action in Xenia the day before.
  • Bryce Hughes and Adrian Navarro-Melendez each contributed doubles in the opener.
  • The first seven batters in the order all had hits in the nightcap.
