WATCH WINNING RUN
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Payton Eeles dashed home off of a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth inning to give Cedarville a 5-4 walkoff win against Walsh in the final game of their G-MAC series.
The Cavaliers won the first game, 7-3, in what was the on campus home opener.
Chase Springmeyer led off the ninth with a single and Eeles followed with a bunt single.
Following a fielders choice bunt, and a ground out, Eeles rushed home when a pitch in the dirt deflected about 20 feet away from the Cavaliers' catcher.
Springmeyer had two hits including a triple while
Jacob Clements and
Daniel Sewak added doubles.
Reid Hale was the last of four CU pitchers and was credited with the win.
In the seven-inning first game, Walsh broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the fifth.
Lucas Rotello went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and Eeles added three hits.
Stinger Notes:
- The first two games of the series were played at Athletes in Action in Xenia the day before.
- Bryce Hughes and Adrian Navarro-Melendez each contributed doubles in the opener.
- The first seven batters in the order all had hits in the nightcap.
- Rotello has hit safely in all ten games and is batting .514 on the season.
- The Yellow Jackets piled up 21 hits on the day.
- Cedarville's last competitive game on campus was April 18, 2019 vs. Trevecca.
