OWENSBORO, Ky. -
Quinton Green scored 20 points to lead the No. 6 Yellow Jackets to a 64-55 victory at No. 3 Kentucky Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the G-MAC Men's Basketball Tournament.
Cedarville moves on to play No. 2 Findlay in Friday's second semifinal game in Hillsdale, Mich. Game time is 7:00 p.m. EST.
The Yellow Jackets bolted to a 9-2 advantage in the first four minutes and never lost the lead.
It was just a two-point spread at halftime and 56-51 with 3:45 remaining.
CU sealed it by making 8-of-10 free throws coming down the stretch.
Branden Maughmer tallied 11 of his 13 points in the second half.
Isaiah Speelman chipped in ten points while
Conner TenHove and
Kollin Van Horn scored eight apiece.
Stinger Notes:
- CU made 19-of-22 free throws and controlled the boards, 37-25.
- Van Horn pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
- Each side committed nine turnovers.
- Ironically, the two regular season meetings between the two schools were canceled due to COVID.
- The Yellow Jackets have defeated KWC four straight times including three in a row in Owensboro.
- The Panthers lead the all-time series, 10-5.
