Jackets stay hot; take two more from Storm

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Daniel Sewak's RBI single in the ninth inning wrapped up another Cedarville rally and completed a four-game G-MAC series sweep of Lake Erie.

The Yellow Jackets loaded the bases with one out and Sewak lofted a ball over the left fielder's head, who was playing shallow, to score Westin Blattner for the 9-8 victory.

Cedarville, 8-6 overall and 5-3 G-MAC, erased a seven-run deficit in winning for the fifth consecutive time.

Payton Eeles finished 4-for-5 to lead a 16-hit attack. Sewak and Blais Hale both had three-hit games.

Jacob Clements added two hits and Micah Stewart had a two-run double. Reid Hale, 3-0, worked the ninth with three strikeouts as the last of five CU pitchers.

In the seven-inning opener, Noah Cline and Riley Landrum combined for a two-hitter in a 2-0 win. Cline, 2-2, fanned five in 6 1/3 innings while Landrum got the save ending the game with a called third strike.

Clements had two hits including a double while Adrian Navarro-Melendez also doubled.

Stinger Notes:
  • Cedarville trailed 7-0 and 8-2 in the nightcap before beginning its comeback.
  • Eeles registered eight hits in the series with four runs scored.
  • Austin Brown hit safely in all four games and walked eight times.
  • Clements ripped six hits during the weekend with a double and a triple.
  • Reid Hale was 2-0 with four strikeouts in two relief appearances.
