CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Unbeaten Wittenberg jumped on the Yellow Jackets in the first inning and rode the momentum to a 17-5 non-conference romp.
Cedarville had its five-game winning streak snapped in falling to 8-7.
The Tigers, 8-0, sent 11 men to the plate in their first at bat and scored six times. The visitors added a pair of unearned runs in the second for an eight-run cushion.
The Yellow Jackets cut the deficit in half in the third inning on an RBI ground out by
Payton Eeles followed by
Austin Brown's three-run homer.
Another Eeles RBI ground out in the fifth shaved the difference to 8-5, but Wittenberg plated nine unanswered runs to finish the contest.
Micah Stewart went 2-for-3 at the plate while
Kale Ebling doubled and scored two runs.
Stinger Notes:
- Brown has hit safely in five straight games and nine of his last ten.
- Stewart registered his first multi-hit contest of the spring.
- Cedarville turned two double plays.
- The Jackets went 5-4 on their nine-game homestand.
- They'll play the next nine contests on the road before returning to host Findlay on April 16.
