WILSON, N.C. - NCBWA Division II No. 16 Ashland used a big seventh inning to overcome the Yellow Jackets for a 11-8 win in the first game of the Tobs College Classic at Fleming Stadium.
The Eagles made the most of their opportunities to score seven times in the decisive frame to reverse what was a 7-3 Cedarville lead.
The Jackets scored five times in the fourth inning without the benefit of a hit. They took advantage of six walks and a three-run error.
Lucas Rotello smacked an RBI double while four other CU players had singles in the contest.
Bryce Hughes drove in two runs and
Payton Eeles scored twice for the Yellow Jackets, 2-1.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville played errorless in the field for the second straight game.
- Eeles was credited with two stolen bases.
- The game was Ashland's season opener.
- The Eagles will join the Great Midwest Athletic Conference beginning with the 2021-22 academic year.
