HILLSDALE, Mich. -
Payton Eeles had a big day at the plate and the pitching staff stepped up again for Cedarville in a G-MAC twinbill sweep at Hillsdale.
The Yellow Jackets rallied for a 9-7 win in ten innings in the first game and then posted an 8-3 victory in game two.
In the opener, CU tied the contest with a run in the ninth inning and then tacked on two more in the tenth.
Eeles had two hits with a double and two RBI.
Lucas Rotello hit a two-run home run while
Austin Brown and
Blais Hale stroked doubles.
Riley Landrum, 2-2, got the win in relief and
Reid Hale worked the final frame for his third save.
Eeles smoked three more hits in the second game for the Jackets, 16-16 overall and 13-11 G-MAC. He had two doubles and drove in three runs.
Blais Hale hit a two-run homer with
Kale Ebling adding a two-run single.
Noah Schleinitz, 4-2, went the distance on the mound with four strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
Stinger Notes:
- Eeles has three straight multi-hit games and 13 total this spring.
- Hale, who hit his team-leading fifth home run, extended his hitting streak to nine.
- The pitching staff struck out ten Chargers and walked two.
- Schleinitz won his third straight start and has totaled 20 K's in that span.
- CU batters walked 14 times total and three were hit-by-pitch.
