KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lady Jackets will be returning to the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship after finishing as the runner-up in the Midwest Regional.
USTFCCCA Division II No. 2 Grand Valley State repeated as champion with 31 points, No. 6 Cedarville had 73, and No. 21 Wayne State totaled 112 to place third.
Five Lady Jackets picked up all-region medals (Top 25 finishers) led by
Savannah Ackley, who was seventh in 21:48.09 for the 6,000 meters.
Joining her in the elite group were
Naomi Herman (12th; 21:55.20),
Alayna Ackley (16th; 22:00.75),
Bethany Sholl (18th; 22:04.02), and
Hannah Rhem (20th; 22:09.09).
Remington Hobson placed 26th (22:18.48) and
Audrianna Enns was 53rd (22:59.82).
The weather conditions drew headlines. The race was staged in single digit wind chills attributed to temperatures in the 20's and 15-25 mph winds.
Cedarville will compete in the NCAA Championship in University Place, Wash. near Seattle on December 2.
