CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Kentucky Wesleyan avenged Friday's doubleheader loss at Cedarville by taking two games in the rematch at cold and snowy Yellow Jacket Field.
The Panthers won the opener, 11-4, in eight innings as well as the nightcap, 6-3, which was halted after six innings by the weather.
Both teams had ample opportunities to win the seven-inning first game, but it was visitors breaking through with seven runs in the eighth.
Payton Eeles and
Blais Hales each recorded two hits with a double.
Bryce Hughes drove in two runs.
In the second contest, Cedarville scored three times in the fifth inning for a 3-1 lead in conditions that were quickly deteriorating.
KWC exploded for five runs in the sixth on a passed ball, three-run triple, and a wild pitch.
Eeles,
Austin Brown, and
Alan Perry had two hits apiece for the Yellow Jackets, 9-14 overall and 3-4 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- Eeles extended his hitting streak to 17. He set the school record of 30 straight as a freshman.
- Starting pitchers Tanner Gillis (8 K's) and Wyatt Fisher (7 K's) combined for 15 strikeouts.
- Game time temperatures were in the low 30's with 20-30 mph winds and flurries throughout both games.Â
