CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Yellow Jacket righthander
Ethan Milburn struck out a career-high ten batters in a 3-1 G-MAC win against Ohio Dominican to complete a sweep of the Panthers.
Cedarville fired up the offense to claim the first game, 12-3.
Milburn, 5-2, went the distance allowing an earned run on four hits. He did not walk a batter.
Chase Springmeyer totaled three hits including a home run for the Jackets, 16-17 overall and 10-7 G-MAC.
Sam Punzi added two hits featuring his second homer of the day.
CU hammered 16 hits in the opener.
Payton Eeles had four hits including a double, triple, and three runs scored.
Bryce Hughes went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Punzi crushed a three-run homer and drove in four runs.
Winning pitcher
Noah Cline, 3-4, went the first five innings while
Kevin Zhang tossed the final four. Both hurlers fanned four batters apiece.
Stinger Notes:
- Milburn threw 89 pitches - 62 for strikes.
- Punzi, Springmeyer, and Alan Perry all had two hits each in the first game.
- Hughes stole three bases in the 12-3 win and had four on the day.
- Lucas Rotello had his hitting streak snapped at 15.
- Punzi, who has five homers in his last five games, has 11 total - one shy of the school record (Nate Davenport, 2010).
- Springmeyer sports a 12-game hitting streak and is batting .588 (10-for-17) in the last four.
