HIGHLIGHTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ashland overcame a 16-point deficit and made the last big shot of the game to nip the Yellow Jackets, 84-82, in a key G-MAC meeting at the Callan Athletic Center.
Jacob Drees' three-pointer with 15 seconds left had given Cedarville an 82-81 lead, but the Eagles came right down the floor and answered with a triple with seven seconds to go.
Following a timeout at the 3.8 second mark, the hosts failed to get a shot off before the buzzer.
Drees finished with 21 points and seven rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, 17-8 overall and 10-7 G-MAC.
Grant Whisman (16 points),
Chris Rogers (15), and
Jayvon Maughmer (13) also scored in double figures.
Cedarville raced out to a 28-12 lead midway through the first half, but Ashland outscored the Jackets 54-31 over the next 20 minutes to turn the game around.
Stinger Notes:
- Maughmer had a team-high four assists.
- Six different players made a three-point basket for the home team.
- Cedarville lost both regular season games to Ashland by a combined total of three points.
- It was the 50th meeting between the two schools dating back to 1924.
- The Eagles holds a 39-11 margin in the all-time series.
