Blais Hale had all three Cedarville hits as Saginaw Valley State blanked the Jackets, 8-0, on a cold day at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex.
The temperature for the non-conference encounter was 26 degrees for the first pitch with wind chills in the low teens.
Hale reached base all four times he came to the plate for Cedarville, 0-4.
He stroked singles in the first, third, and sixth innings before drawing a walk in the eighth.
The Cardinals, who were playing their season opener, made the most of ten hits - all singles - as well as seven walks.

Wyatt Fisher worked the first 4 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts.
