CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets swept Shepherd and then fell in four sets to UNC Pembroke to begin the season in the Cedarville Invitational.
CU won the first match 25-21, 25-13, 25-23.
Greta Blakemore hammered 14 kills and
Kaley Matney dished out 36 assists.
The UNC Pembroke evening contest was played in front of a crowd of 1,150 fans.
The Braves bounced back for a 21-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-17 victory to complete a perfect 2-0 day.
Five players had at least seven kills with Blakemore leading the charge with nine.
Matney totaled 37 assists and
Haley Koch turned aside five blocks.
