CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Chris Rogers scored a career-high 29 points featuring a game-winning 35-footer to lift the Yellow Jackets to a come-from-behind 84-83 G-MAC win over Ashland.
Cedarville outscored the Eagles 11-1 in the final minute to pull out the stunning result at the Callan Athletic Center.
Jayvon Maughmer finished with 17 points and
Grant Whisman had 13 for the Yellow Jackets, 19-10 overall and 13-6 G-MAC.
Ashland converted two free throws for an 82-73 lead with 1:03 remaining setting up the bizarre ending.
Whisman nailed a three-pointer six seconds later and added a tipin to cut the difference to 82-78 with 35 seconds to go.
The Eagles made one-of-two free throws with 19 seconds on the clock and Maughmer hit a triple to make it 83-81 with 12.5 seconds left.
Ashland threw the ball away on the in bounds play leading to Rogers' heroics. The visitors misfired on a turnaround 15-footer at the buzzer.
STINGER NOTES:
- Rogers made all seven of his shots in the first half including four three-pointers for 18 points.
- Jacob Drees posted team-highs of seven rebounds and seven assists.
- Cedarville led the entire first half and enjoyed a 47-32 margin at the 2:18 mark.
- Ashland took its first lead eight minutes into the second half.
- The Jackets committed a season-low two turnovers.
- CU buried 18 triples - the third time the team has made at least 18 this winter.
- The 45 three-point attempts were the second-most this season (47 vs. Findlay).
- Cedarville swept the two regular season games from Ashland.
