LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The USTFCCCA Division II No. 6 Lady Jackets proved they belong among the nation's elite with a fifth-place finish at the Louisville Classic.
Division I No. 13 ranked West Virginia won the 31-team race and was followed by Clemson, Division II No. 2 West Texas A&M, Columbia, and Cedarville.
Emily Walsh led the way for CU crossing the line in 17:14.4 for the 5K at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park to place 16th overall among 305 competitors.
Corinne Lynch followed closely in 17:20.6 for 20th place. Rounding out the team's top five were
Savannah Golding (42nd, 17:44.3),
Aubrey Hayes (45th, 17:45.2), and
Hannah Hartenburg (56th, 17:51.8).
Alyson Enns (63rd, 18:00.1) and
Helen Rhymer (67th, 18:02.4) completed Cedarville's top seven helping the team post a combined time of 1:27:56.
All seven runners finished within 48 seconds of one another.
The Lady Jackets return to the Alabama-Huntsville Invite on October 11 with race time at 9:50 a.m. EDT.
