CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville University is excited to announce the launch of its new Esports program in the fall of 2025.

The Yellow Jackets will be joining the growing world of competitive gaming and offering students the opportunity to participate in organized, team-based video game competitions.

"We are thrilled to add Esports to our list of student activities," said Christopher Cross, Vice President of Athletics.

"Esports is a rapidly growing phenomenon, and we believe it will provide our students with a unique and exciting opportunity to further the university mission, develop their skills, build community, and represent Cedarville in a new and dynamic way. This emerging sport could develop into something very special for our campus."

The University is currently in the process of recruiting players and coaches for the inaugural Esports co-ed team.

The Yellow Jackets' Esports program will initially focus on Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers, and one additional title to be determined. The University plans to compete against other colleges and universities in a regional and national Esports conference.

"We are committed to providing our Esports athletes an exciting athletic experience competing against top competition nationally." said Cross  "We believe that Esports has the potential to become an impactful part of the Cedarville experience and that we can use the opportunity to represent Christ well in this space."
