Cardinals hold Cedarville in check during chilly sweep

XENIA, Ohio - Saginaw Valley State held Cedarville to two runs total in winning both games of a doubleheader at the AIA Sports Complex.

The Cardinals won by scores of 4-1 and 6-1 in wind chills that hovered in the upper teens

In the opener, the Yellow Jackets got on the board in the first inning when Eli Henderson scored on a throwing error.

Kaden Wilde had two of the team's five hits including a triple and Grayson Weikel doubled.

Starting pitcher Tate Marland allowed two earned runs in five innings with six strikeouts.

Cedarville stranded 13 runners on base in the second contest and was held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning.

Wilde's sacrifice fly down the right field line scored Kaden Shook, who opened the inning with a double.

The Jackets totaled eight hits with Henderson and Shook recording two each for the Jackets, 4-8 overall. Starting pitcher Jensen Wagoner fanned six batters in 5.2 innings.
