CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville and Lake Erie split a G-MAC doubleheader at Yellow Jacket Field on a day that featured all sorts of Ohio weather.
The Yellow Jackets took the first game, 9-3, and the Storm rolled in the second contest, 14-4.
After the DH started 45 minutes late due to morning rain and lightning, playing conditions featured sunshine, gusty winds, another lightning delay, followed by a steady rain.
In the seven-inning opener, Cedarville broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fourth and then pulled away with five in the fifth.
Chris Montes de Oca tallied two hits and two runs while
Riley Finkelston contributed an RBI single and RBI double.
Cooper Martin started the big fifth inning with a two-run single.
Starting pitcher
Coen Ball, 2-1, went 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Reliever
Walker Harris got the final two outs with one strikeout.
The rainy second game was a 4-4 deadlock until Lake Erie exploded for nine runs in the sixth inning. It was finally halted in the seventh by the wet conditions.
Finkelston and
Brendan Colley had two hits apiece for Cedarville, 9-11 overall and 2-2 G-MAC.
