Heath announced as CU’s first Esports head coach

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville University has named Andrew Heath as its first-ever Esports head coach, ushering in a new era of competitive gaming on campus.

A lifelong video game competitor with a deep passion for the Esports community, Heath will guide the Yellow Jackets as they compete in Marvel Rivals, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the program's inaugural 2025–26 season.

"We are excited to have Andrew lead our first-ever Esports team," said Chris Cross, Vice President for Athletics. "This is more than just launching a team - it's creating a community where students can develop teamwork, discipline, and excellence both in and out of the game.

"More importantly, it provides a unique discipleship opportunity as we foster a Christ-centered approach to competition."

The new team will feature a roster of approximately 20 student-athletes, to be announced in late August, with the season schedule debuting in early September.

Cedarville is a proud member of both the National Association of Collegiate Esports and the National Esports Collegiate Conference.

Five other Great Midwest Athletic Conference members also field Esports programs - Ashland, Malone, Northwood, Thomas More, and Tiffin.
