CEDARVILLE - USTFCCCA Division II No. 9 Cedarville opened its season with a convincing four-peat win in the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Classic.
The Lady Jackets packed nine runners among the top 15 finishers to score an impressive 20 points and outdistance runner-up John Carroll (122) in the 20-team field at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
Emily Walsh led the way with a runner-up finish in 21:33.5 over the 6,000-meter layout. She was followed closely by
Corinne Lynch (3rd, 21:40.7),
Alyson Enns (4th, 21:49.1),
Aubrey Hayes (5th, 21:56.1), and
Hannah Hartenburg (6th, 21:59.9).
Savannah Golding (9th, 22:06.6) and
Helen Rhymer (11th, 22:18.5) also finished in the top 15 to round out the team's top seven.

"I think we ran really well and very smart. The plan was to be a little cautious on the first mile because of the heat, and the heat can really catch up to you especially since it was almost 88 degrees when the gun went off. They did that well and it allowed them to be strong the entire race. The times were much faster than I thought they would be so that was very encouraging."
