CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Cedarville begins the 2026 baseball campaign on Friday with a non-conference doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial University.
There may be 15 inches of snow on the ground and sub-zero wind chills on campus, the Jackets will be in Harrogate, Tenn. to play a couple of nine-inning contests against the Railsplitters.
It marks the third time in the past four years that Head Coach
Matt Richter's club has opened the season at LMU.
Cedarville is coming off of a 21-29 overall record and 14-18 in the G-MAC. The Jackets were in the conference tournament playoff hunt right up until the very last game.
Leading the pitching staff will be senior lefthander and D2 Baseball Preseason All-America second teamer
Jensen Wagoner.
He was voted to the NCCAA All-America First Team and All-G-MAC Second Team after going 5-5 with one save while leading the league in earned run average (2.21).
Wagoner was joined on the league's second unit by
Eli Henderson and
Kaden Wilde.
Henderson, a junior shortstop, started all 50 games with a team-leading .355 batting average.
He also topped the club in hits (59), walks (35), hit-by-pitch (16), and assists (122) plus tied for the lead in runs (38).
Wilde, a junior catcher/infielder, started all 50 games and ranked second on the team in hitting with a .312 average.
He ranked first in at bats (186), triples (9), runs batted in (31), total bases (87), and stolen bases (11). Plus, he tied for first in runs scored with 38.
Cedarville is scheduled for a three-game series at Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, Tenn. on February 6-7.
The Jackets first date on campus is slated for March 27-28 when they host Findlay in a four-game G-MAC series.
